The poem "Speak" is one of few poems that I am most proud of. I'm not a big fan of poetry, but I some how was able to produce a poem that represents home the simple ability of talking can affect others. I was inspired to write this because everyday in high school you see students talking to each other; some students talk about plans for the weekend, classes, or about other students. That inspiration lead me to write the poem and to give readers the understanding of how speaking can be used for good and bad purposes. Below is a recording of me reading "Speak"; I hope you enjoy it and that I didn't read to fast.

Who doesn't like the use of onomatopoeia? Or the idea of presenting in front of a class? Not me. The simple idea of presenting in front of others-- whether it is classmates or strangers-- inspired me to write "The Beat". I've decided to share this poem with other for two reasons. One reason is because it is part of a small collection of good poems I've created. Second is because I enjoyed adding the onomatopoeia of a heart beating into my writing. I hope you enjoy my poem and below is a recording of me reading "The Beat".
